New Buses Factory
Likino Bus Factory is a bus manufacturing company located in Likino that produces Russian buses of GAZ group.
Our excursion starts with the press preparation shop.
Cutting of coiled steel occurs here.
Surfacing of a bus body and parts of its are made at a cold upsetting shop.
They use “Trumpf TL – 3030″ while laser cutting.
A metal plate is put into the working area of the press.
Those who stand behind the screen can see how a laser beam cuts the plate at a great speed shaping a future work piece.
After some time the press releases finished details.
This is where a long process starts.
The details will acquire the needed shape a bit later.
Finished details will be sent to other stages of production.
The working process.
Manufacture of an evaporating coil.
The roof of a bus is assembled and welded with the help of SCHLATTER machine at the welding shop.

Step by step, bus parts acquire new and new details.
Finally all elements of the bus body are put together. The front part of it is seen in the picture.
Load-bearing part of the bus body.
Details are put together on the holding frame.
An operator.
Welding of a bus body.
Now metal plates will be attached to the finished frame.
They use a unique technology to make the bus sides smooth and even. Before welding the metal plate is heated to 90 degrees Celsius. It gets increased in size and is attached to the frame then.
Final stages.
Cataphoretic processing of the bus body.
There are no analogues to the process of large bus assembly in other parts of Russia.
The complex operation is controlled by a fragile girl.
The bus is put into several huge basins.
LiAZ was the first enterprise in Russia where bus bodies underwent complete anticorrosive treatment with the help of cataphoresis. A body placed into a cataphoresis basin is influenced by an electric field. As a result, a special water-based paint covers all parts of the bus. No little space is missed. The fusion of the epoxy layer with metal is very steady which means that the surface is stable to any weather conditions.
Did you know that a bus roof is covered with a plastic layer?
They say the technology is very long-lasting.
Around 1500 od workers are employed here.
10 new buses are ready per shift.
The most amount of orders is obtained by the end of the year. The the number of buses finished per shift is increased. The enterprise hires temporary workers and raises their salaries.
The factory is very proud of its buses.
LiAZ guarantees that the service life of its bus bodies will be at least 12 years.
The bus will be painted soon.
Friendship.
Coloured buses.
It is time to install windows.
The enterprise is really large. The conveyor is located on the two floors.
The final assembly line. An engine comes to the spot every 90 minutes, an axle – every 45 minutes.
An axle is chosen by a client. This time an axle of a German manufacturer ZF was installed.
There is a wide assortment of engines that are also chosen by clients.
The buses will have engines by MAN company and automatic transmissions by ZF.
Here starts an interesting process of putting two halves of the bus together.
With start of LiAZ-6212 production new buses invaded the streets of Russia.
LiAZ uses quite a new scheme according to which its leading wheels are based on a support vehicle that pushes the bus. That is why the mechanism cylinders are blocked when on a slippering surface.
The coupling mechanism costs around 34000 US dollars.
Doors.
Emergency escape.
A set of yellow and orange buses is made according to the new program of Moscow Government. They will drive along special lines intended for passenger transport.
Testing of electronic devices.
The bus is filled with technical fuel.
A driver’s cabin.
After that finished buses go to the line of independent control where the quality of buses is estimated from a customer’s point of view.
