Loukanikos, The Riot Dog
If you haven’t heard of Loukanikos, the infamous protester dog, by now, it’s likely you live under a rock. Haveno fear, WHOA! is here to enlighten you. The Greek canine has been affectionately dubbed the Riot Dog (along with Kanellos, who unfortunately passed away in 2008) because he is present at nearly every protest in Athens as of October 10th 2011. The riot dogs were first noticed by Greek photographers and have since gained extensive media coverage for their unfaltering loyalty to protests involving issues of human rights. We cannot get enough of the photos of Loukanikos (a word that means “sausage” in Greek) in action…this dog has a stronger sense of morals than most humans do. For that, this dog is definitely WHOA-worthy.
