Umbrella Boos the Signal Strength
Umbrella Boos the Signal Strength - British mobile phone company, Vodafone, has unveiled a prototype for the “Voda Booster Brolly” – an umbrella that will boos the signal strength of a cell phone and also charge its battery in the midst of a downpour (which, in Britain, is probably quite often). The high-gain antenna catches radio waves from Vodafone transmitters and disperses them at a very low intensity signal to help you get more signal bars on your cell. The hands-free cellphone cradle allows users to safely hold the umbrella as the phone charges (and comes with an LED torch for those dark and rainy nights). The custom umbrella canopy is hand-hewn with 12 two-volt solar panels that generate current using the power of the sun. The harvested energy can either be stored in rechargeable batteries or use directly to charge a mobile device through USB port. We hope there’s enough sun rays to shine through the rain in order to make this cool product successful – it supposedly only weighs 800 grams, and for this and all the above mentioned reasons, we can imagine it being a big hit in rainy London town.
